May was quite a fun month. We had the national day here in Norway, the weather was great so I've spent a lot of time enjoying the beautiful outdoors and I went for a little weekend trip to Vilnius. Due to the trip I have a few samples I didn't quite finish over there, but took back with me to finish here. Otherwise there's a lot of regulars, and some things I've been working on for a while. There's also a few makeup items and some nail polish which is super exciting!
Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion 400ml ( here )
This is one of my favourite body lotions, and one I return to time and time again. It's a richer cream, but still lighter in consistency, meaning you can use it in the mornings and still be able to put your clothes on before waiting 2 and a half hours.
The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Shower Gel 250ml & Body Sorbet 200ml ( limited edition )
Just as we're heading into summer again, I've finished these two that came out for last summer. I absolutely loved the scent of these, and really wish Body Shop would bring them out again, or better yet, make it permanent. For now I'll be looking forward to this years "drink-themed-summer-release" to roll out in their shops here; "Pinita Colada". Can't wait!!
Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo 300ml ( here )
I finished the conditioner last month, which I was so-so about. The Miracle Moist Shampoo I enjoyed more. It cleaned my hair well, without irritating my scalp or stripping my hair. That's pretty much all I need a shampoo to do. It's not sulphate-free, which I do prefer, but all in all this is a really good cheaper alternative.
Aveda Caribbean Therapy Body Scrub 450g ( here )
I was so excited when I ordered this online. The name "Caribbean Therapy" had me expecting something to smell wonderfully of summer. How disappointed I was when I opened this and only sniffed the scent of salt. My bad, I guess, but what a misleading name. Either way the scrub is by all means decent. It's one of those that do end up a bit everywhere. For the price, I don't like that. I don't see myself buying this again, it just wasn't anything all that special in the end.
Clarins Energizing Emulsion 10ml ( here )
This is a really nice cooling and calming lotion for the feet and legs. If I've been out walking for a long time, or my feet and legs are super tired for whatever reason, this feels so good to apply after I'm back home.
Molton Brown Eucalyptus Body Wash 30ml ( here )
Long-time readers of the blog will know my love for Molton Brown. This is no different to the Molton Brown Body Washes I've tried and used in the past - incredible smell, feels great on the skin without drying it out. I'd definitely love the full-size of this one.
Lancome Baume Corps 40ml ( discontinued? )
This is a very nice, super moisturising lotion. It's thicker and is definitely for those with dry skin, or to use on drier "parts" like knees, elbows etc. It's not super greasy, though a bit thick, so not one to use in the mornings when you need to put clothes on quickly. I can't find it anywhere online though, so perhaps it's been discontinued?
Dove ClearTone Sheer Touch Deodorant ( here )
This is a very good deodorant. It's efficient, but doesn't irritate the skin. All I need from a deodorant really. And it's cheap.
Marc Jacobs Daisy, Daisy Dream & Daisy Eau So Fresh ( here , here & here )
I've owned Daisy in the past and used it up completely. While I'm typically into more special and niche types of scents, at least these days, I can't help but enjoy the Daisy "line" from Marc Jacobs. Sometimes it's nice with something that's just easy, fresh and a bit sweet. When I've pared down my too-big-for-my-personal-liking perfume "collection" I wouldn't be surprised if I add one of the Daisy perfumes to rotation. That will probably be in about 10 years though, at the rate I'm going.
Maison Francis Kurkdijan Aqua Vitae ( here )
I quite enjoyed this. It's a citrus type scent, with a bit of a masculine twist. Not so much I couldn't wear it, but definitely not for you if you enjoy super feminine scents. The notes are lemon, mandarin, tonka bean, guaiac wood, jasmine, vanilla and hedione. I'm keeping the bottle as I can twist off the sprayer. I'm excited to re-purpose this for my deluxe sample bottles of perfume that don't have a sprayer.
Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm 100ml ( review - here )
I absolutely love this and am absolutely gutted it's finished. It's the perfect cleansing balm. It does a really good thorough deep-cleanse, but it's still not greasy and is super easy to remove from the skin. I will absolutely, most definitely buy this again. Probably my all-time favourite cleansing balm. There, I said it.
Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil 30ml ( review - here )
I've been through so many bottles of this, and there's a full review, so I don't have much more to say than; I still love it, will keep on repurchasing, and I'm onto my backup.
Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster 15ml ( review - here )
Another long-time favourite. I've been through this non-stop since buying my first one when it was released. This is amazing. I add three drops to whatever day-cream I am using, and I get a nice glow. Nothing too much, nothing high-maintenance, just a nice healthy glow.
La Roche-Posay Serozinc 150ml ( here )
Another favourite. This is probably the 15th bottle I've used up. I'm already onto my backup, and I've got about three more backups waiting. I will never be without this, it's so good. Soothing, balancing, all the good things.
REN Vita Mineral Daily Supplement Moisturising Cream 50ml ( review - here )
I've definitely finished a lot of favourites this month. That's also because there's a lot of categories where I'm only down to my favourite products, so I do tend to rotate through them on a regular basis. Another one of those is this day-cream from REN. It's a bit thicker, so if you've got combination/oily skin I wouldn't go for it. I've got more normal/dehydrated skin, so it's an absolute winner for me. It's moisturising, but still not super heavy, making it perfect for daytime. It's also got some really nice ingredients in there. See my full review for more information.
Supergoop Eye Cream with Oat Peptides Broad Spectrum SPF 37 15ml ( review - here )
The last of my full-size skincare empties, which is another long-time favourite I've talked about several times before. This was also featured in my May Favourites post. A great hydrating eye cream, that isn't at all too heavy for daytime use, and with SPF 37 making it one of the best anti-ageing eye creams around.
Clarins Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser 10ml ( here )
I've used several samples of this in the past. It's ok and removes makeup well, but it's not as good as Bioderma, which is more efficient and gentler, especially on the eyes.
La Prairie Advanced Marine Biology Day Cream SPF 20 5ml ( here )
This is such a good day cream. I've used the full size in the past. It hydrates really well, without being thick or heavy, and keeps my skin balanced and comfortable all throughout the day.
Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Cleansing Balm 30ml ( here )
This is a nice lighter cleansing balm. It will never compete to the thicker cleansing balms I normally use, but it's very nice to take when I travel. I've used quite a few when travelling over the years, and do see myself buying the full-size just to take with me when I go away.
Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Extra Strength Formula x 3 ( here )
I’ve had these samples lying around for ages, and decided this month I was finally going to use them. I made sure to use them all at the same time, meaning one per week, to really get a good impression of the results. After using them all I feel like this is a good chemical exfoliant. It’s very efficient, but it didn’t bother my somewhat sensitive (read: not super sensitive) skin. I’ve used other exfoliation products that are just as good, so I won’t bother the whole ordering this online from the US and paying ridiculous fees for shipping, but if it was more easily available I could easily see myself buying the full size pack.
Omorovicza Complexion Perfector BB SPF 20 in Light 50ml ( review - here )
I love this, absolutely love it, as you can tell from the full review I wrote on it recently as well. This barely has any coverage but it’s such a treat for the skin. After using this for a few days, I need a lot less coverage so it’s the opposite of a dark cirle (heavy foundation to cover inperfections, more inperfections, more heavy foundation etc. etc. ). While I’m sad this is done, I’m happy I made a point to use and enjoy it before it expired. Definitely an item I will buy again after I’ve used up more of my tinted moisturisers, bb creams etc. This is definitely too expensive a product to have whilst having several other base products, at least I think so for me personally.
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in 01 Ivory ( here )
This was really good. This has been so hyped up, for so long, I was excited to finally try it. I understand what all the fuss is about. This covers quite well, blends super easily and stays put for a long time. It didn’t do too much in terms of highlighting for me, but I think that’s due to me being pale and this not being super light, and it would probably work well as a highlighting pen for anyone a bit darker than me.
Loréal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in 102 Mauve Cherie ( discontinued? )
This was actually one of my favourite lipsticks. I didn't try to finish it, until it was almost finished anyway and I went in "for the kill". It's one of those balm/shine/lipstick hybrids that is super comfortable on the lips, and semi-sheer, but can be built up to full coverage. The colour was gorgeous. A purple toned mauve. I will definitely miss this, and was a bit upset to find it seems it's been discontinued. Having said that, the colour wasn't THAT special, so I'm sure I'll find something else to replace it. I hope.
Soap & Glory Hand Food 50ml ( here )
This was part of a christmas set of three, and after finishing this one I'm down to just one. This was in the regular scent, the signature soap and glory scent for those familiar. It's a bit sweet and floral. Overall a nice hand cream, no complaints. Not super heavy, so not enough for me for overnight, but for daytime use it's great, except it's lacking in the SPF department.
Rimmel Lycra Pro in 397 Beige Babe 12ml ( discontinued? )
I've just completed two full years of a nail polish no-buy. I've been doing a project of rotating through all of my polishes at least once before starting over again. This has been a lot of fun, because I end up using all of my polishes, and re-discover a lot of them. However, it's not doing much in terms of actually using them up, and the end-goal here is to downsize my "collection" quite a bit. In that spirit I decided to get rid of this one by Rimmel this month. It's quite old, it was very cheap, and so therefore I decided to let it go. I do love the colour, but I have to start somewhere, and I'm not going to start with my limited edition Chanel's, I'm just not.
OPI Mini 3.75ml ( limited edition? )
There's no name on this anywhere, which is a shame as I was almost considering re-purchasing at some point. I've been using this on my toes for a while now and that's the reason I've used it up. It was awesome for that. It's a red with lots of glitter, which can be a bit much for the finger nails, but on the toes it looked awesome. At least I thought so. If anyone know of an OPI polish that is red with glitter, do let me know, or of course any possible dupes from other brands as well!
