Primark Collection

Be Yourself by Bugle
Over the years I've bought quite a few things from Primark. So, I thought it would be interesting to showcase a few old and new items from the brand that sparked me enough to join the numberless queues. The only items I didn't include are a set of false nails, a nail glue, one glittery nail polish (whoops), a cuticle oil, a face mask, some brushes and a lipstick (swatched here). Perhaps I might swatch and add them in later ...

Pictured: liquid lipsticks, lip glosses, nail polish, lipsticks, brow gels, lip liners, eye liners and a lip stain.
Anyway, I was happily surprised to find that I did not have as much Primark makeup/cosmetics as I thought I did. Obviously, my willpower has been somewhat resilient to all the tempting items I have routinely come across and I've managed to escape the store without bringing those non-necessaries with me.

However, in this post, I will be showing the items that I could not resist; firstly starting with lip products, then eye stuff and lastly nail polish. Warning this post is going to be pic heavy and a bit long. Yes, I could've split up this "collection" into various parts but, I think putting it all into one helps give the overall vibe of the company and the overall quality (or not) of the products.

Remember makeup is not a necessity and you really don't need it to be kept/groomed/beautiful. Just because something is expensive doesn't mean it will work better than something inexpensive. Sometimes the price is reflective of quality but, sometimes it is not. How do you measure success? How do you measure beauty? What is the source of your value and self-worth? The answer to those questions can really say a lot about a person. Having a lot of makeup shouldn't be the source of your joy and satisfaction and don't feel bad if you can't indulge in the latest and greatest fantasy "must-have" even if you can afford to splash out it doesn't mean you should. Alright, Public Service announcement over with - time for the swatches + reviews!

Liquid Lipstick
PS Super Matte Liquid Lipstick
PS Super Matte Liquid Lipsticks have a chemical scent that is not pleasant but, it's bearable since it dissipates after application. Both shades are pigmented with a soft feel and have no stickiness or tackiness to them. Since they are completely matte they can feel a bit dry but are still comfortable on the lips. Overall, they look great feel alright and wear well, instead of crumbling like some more expensive liquid lipsticks they simply fade away.

Matte Lipstick
P.S. Love Matte Long Lasting Lipstick in Movie Star
Let's say this if I was compiling a list, this lipstick would be in my "Top 10". I love virtually everything about it from the scent, to the packaging to the very orange-red shade itself. The scent is very sweet like a salted caramel chocolate, its pigmented, wears superbly, has a matte finish but a moisturising and plush feel. Compared to the higher end YSL lipstick in my collection Movie Star certainly beats it for having a scratch free golden mirrored finish at an amazing price - £1.50! Since I bought this lipstick a long time ago I don't think it's still available but, at least the "matte long-lasting lipstick" line is still in circulation so who knows what other amazing shades are being made!
Movie Star
Movie Star is a brick orange-red that can be applied at full strength or blotted down. Your eyes are not deceiving you £1.50 never looked so good.
The bottom even pops out so there is more product!
Lip Glosses

PS Love Liquid Lipsticks
These liquid lipsticks (3D shine Lip Gloss) are not "liquid lipsticks" but intensely pigmented lip glosses aka lipsticks in liquid form. They're opaque in one stroke, have a strong fruity pleasant fragrance and are great to achieve super shiny pigmented lip colour on their own or to mix with other products. Plus, if you do find the shine and strength of pigmentation too much they can be blotted down to a pretty but not as noticeable level and are great mixed with other shades and products.

Intense Lipstick
PS Colour Intensity Lipstick Double Pigment
PS Colour Intensity Lipstick Double Pigment is a very intense lipstick. One swipe can give pure opaque and beautiful coverage. However, it is also very stinky and smells like it's going rancid, which is a shame because I only bought it 2 days ago. Maybe I picked a bad one (?). For the colour and price, this is a great buy but, the smell repels me! The first ingredient is Castor Seed Oil which is good but, perhaps the reason for the smell being off as natural ingredients tend to turn quickly.
Dark Pink is true to its name as it's a pigmented and muted dark pink
Moisturising Lipstick
P.S. Love Ultra Moisturising Lipstick in 12
I guess it goes without saying that I usually start with reds when I buy from any company. This lipstick proves my point as I think it was my first lipstick from the brand (?). It's a moisturising and pigmented pretty red that I really can't fault (colour/formula/wear/feel/texture) etc. but I don't often reach for it. Why? Well, I guess I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to reds and the packaging on this doesn't feel too sturdy and I' not the kind to want lipstick explosion accidents in my bag. This is a rather old buy but once again like the Matte Lipstick line, the Moistruring one is still around. Definitely worth a look at if you have drier lips.

Lipstain
Primark Lipstains are great and I don't think I've ever purchased one that didn't stain my lips vividly and last for a long time. If you're looking for a product that will have a bit of moisture (some tackiness) then the Pro Longwear Lip Pens are great. I think the swatch below speaks for itself.
PS Pro Longwear Lip Liner Pen in 03 Provactive Pink (oh really)

Lip Pencils
PS Primark Lip Liners in a red and pink
Eye Liner
I bought this two eyeliners for practice purposes mainly because the applicator was soft, the pigmentation was great for the black and decent enough for the white and most of all they are very easy to remove with just water.
PS Chick Flick Eye Liners in Black and White
Brow Gel
Inspired by Glossier Boy Brow, I was eager to try out a product that would slightly enhance my brows without costing £14. As you can see, I don't do much with them besides maybe brushing them once every full moon (howls like a wolf). The Clear Brow gel does help to smooth out the hair and give it some shape and the Brown Brow Gel makes them look less sparse. I think they're good products but, I still want to try Boy Brow because I think it'd be more subtle and better for a brow newbie like me. Yet, I'll use these first before I jump into the world of Glossier.
PS Brow Gel in Clear and Brown
Eyebrow Oil
Since I decided to step up my brow game with brow gels etc. I thought it best to protect and nourish my brows. This purchase of Primarks Eyebrow Conditioning all is recent so I can't say how good it works but, I noticed that the ingredients are organic and very natural (only 2 oils!). It's a bit pricier than most Primark eye products but, it is organic and a very thick but easy to blend in oil mixture. Castor Seed Oil and Argan Oil supposedly thickens and nourishes hair. For a long time, I've heard people say its grown back their hair and made their lashes and brows thicker and or longer. So hopefully, it will work to protect my brows from gels and my lashes from mascara (it doesn't say you can use it on lashes but I'll try it out).

Nail Polish
Ever since a colleague with great nails told me that her nail polish was from Primark I have found it difficult to resist the allure of a pretty Primark nail polish. For the ones I have tried, they have all been really great colours that are either pigmented and glossy in one swipe or can be respectfully built up in two. Whilst the wear time for me has never been amazing, I can appreciate that my nail care/habits have not been the best and well the shades are beautiful! I've swatched most of my polishes from Primark apart from a glitter polish that decided to wander off somewhere ...
Old-ish Polish Collection!
From Oranges to purples to a pink
A light blue, a white, a bubblegum pink and a satin blue
New Polish Collection!
90p polish! Applied on top over a nail polish
This new nail polish line claims one thing and one thing only - that it is a one coat polish - and it truly lives up to that claim and then some. It dries in good time and makes my nails feel strengthened and protected in just one coat. Right now I'm wearing the Berry shade (yeah they finally have names!) and it actually looks and behaves better than more expensive polishes I've tried. I was only buying a black for my sis but, decided I'd treat myself too and before I knew it I could not put these 3 polishes down! I love them all which is great but not so great, as I'll have to try my best to resist the allure.

So there you have it, most of my Primark collection as of now ...

Have you tried any cosmetics from Primark?
What are your thoughts about inexpensive cosmetics?
